Process Flow Charts

Every university researcher should be familiar with the process of Patent Application and Technology Transfer at their institution. A process flow chart, diagram or general document may be available on the website of your university's Technology Transfer Office (“TTO”). This resource will be aligned to the their Intellectual Property Policy and related guidelines.

IP Policies are contractual in nature and often contain complex legal language. However, a process flow chart resembles a “snapshot” of the process. It is presented in a chronological format and is generally easier to understand. Here are some examples of Process Flow Charts from several research universities:
